High School
We are the home of three-time Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association
and Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic League Class AAA girls champion
Michaela Kissell! The Greater Latrobe High School junior won the
unprecedented championships in 2003, '04 and '05.
The Club
Hempfield High School, led by Greensburg Racquet Club members and
coached by GRC instructor Jerry Way, has had success in the spring of '06.
Nick Voloch won the Class AAA Section 5 championship; Voloch and Nick
Cherry were section doubles champs; and Mike Keating and Max Friedlander
were doubles finalists.
In 2005, Greensburg Central Catholic, coached by GRC instructor Molly Campi,
was home to the WPIAL Class AA doubles finalists Courtney Hawk and Franca
Peluso.
The Academy
USTA teams
Our the Men's 3.5 team placed first in their AMD division. They traveled to the
Middle States Section Championships in Princeton, N.J., on Aug. 19-21. Team
members are: captain Keith Roadman, Ed Rusbosin, Bob Fierie, Bill
Mayercheck, Fed Kaminsky, Chris Couch, Barry Debone, Sean Cassidy, Kim
Houser, John Scanlan, David Zubal, Bryan Gesinski, Mark Gross, Brian Jones
and Chris Gesinski.

Our four senior teams placed first in their AMD divisions.
Women's 3.5 seniors: captain Gerre Vecchiola, Beth Goodwin, Melissa Kish
Carol Williamson, Fran DePaul, Kaye Fierie, Shery Albright, Kay Lee, Jeanne
Dandrea, Betty Rushbrook, Betty Minick,Andrea Buczek, Carol Blummer,
Devie Ramsey and Sheryl Hershock.
Other
Men's 3.5 seniors: captain Chuck Vecchiola, Jim Soltis, Sean Cassidy, Bob
Fierie, Mike Goodwin, Fred Kaminsky, Takashi Sugi, Steve Michaux Bill
Mayercheck and John Scanlan. This is the sixth straight year this team
qualified for Princeton.
Women's 4.0 seniors: captain Jackie Albenze, Gloria Kerin, Taeko Sugi,
Elaine Gall, Donna Liberatore, Sylvia Elliott, Joan Rombach, Jane Wasson,
Debbie Crowley-Lisowskin and Kumiko Lancet.
Women's 4.5 seniors: captain Elaine Gall, Ann Harris, Alexis Schunck, Joan
Rombach, Mary Planko, Linda Michaux, Sylvia Elliott, Glroia Kerin, Rochelle
Sellhammer and Jackie Albenze.

A1 placed first and was captained by Vivian Finoli.
A4 placed third and was captained by Melissa Kish and Carol
Mader.
B3 placed fourth and was captained by Shelia Kassell.
A3 placed fifth and was captained by Suzanne Skero.
West Virginia Open
Charlene Leo and Colleen Faddish won the Women's 3.0 doubles at
the West Virginia Open in July.
