division and qualified for the Sectional Championship, in Landisville, on June 2-4.

High School Tennis
Congratulations to our high school tennis teams for their outstanding
achievements this year.
WPIAL and PIAA (state) singles championships were won by Michaela Kissell
(Greater Latrobe) for the third year in a row. Michaela also won Girls 16 national
tournaments in Toledo, Cincinnati and Erie!
Section high school winners are: Greater Latrobe girls team, Greensburg Central
Catholic girls team, Hempfield Area boys and girls teams, section titles; Mary
Wilson (Greater Latrobe) section singles, second place; Franca Peluso (GCC)
section singles and doubles; Courtney Hawk (GCC) section doubles; Samantha
DeStefano (GCC) section doubles (second); Allie Seranko and Andrea Sutyak
(Greater Latrobe) section doubles; Nick Voloch (Hempfield) section singles and
doubles; Max Friedlander (Hempfield) section singles (third) and doubles
(second); Mike Keating (Hempfield) section singles (third) and doubles (second);
Nick Cherry (Hempfield) section doubles. Players advancing to the PIAA (state)
tournaments included Michaela Kissell and Mary Wilson in singles (both from
Greater Latrobe), Franca Peluso/Courtney Hawk in doubles (GCC) and the Greater
Latrobe girls squad in the team tournament.
